The design of a report is more than a mockup.
Sometimes the basis of
a report can simply be laid out on a dinner napkin or it can be multi-page document.
No matter which approach your company uses, either can be utilized to
develop a report.
Our Report Development Cycle (which is scalable to match the customer’s appetite for formality)
provides a framework for projects of all types and sizes.
Our design
solution considers
consistency, presentation, familiarity and the customer's business culture. A
company has their way presenting information to their readers.
Consistency provides an immediate benefit for the reader in knowing where to
find key information such as: the page number, the crucial formula
definitions are always displayed on the last page, the user selected
parameters are displayed in the footer, the color schemes and so on – these
are all
important design factors. These details seem trivial but when done
correctly, they go unnoticed. Well designed reports feel natural, like
you already know how to use them.
The Aprimo database requires that data
assumptions be clear and concise, that metrics are well defined using the vocabulary of
the business as well as in the Aprimo database terms. Certain data items can be
found multiple places in the database – defining what the data element
specifics in the design will reduce development, re-work and maintenance
efforts.
Rounding out the report documentation is
our ‘As-Built’ documentation which is quick (less costly) and complete
with all of the technical information one might need to review or use to
re-create the report.
